Why on-time (and late) pickup notes matter months later — and how to keep them factual.
Custody exchanges are where plans meet traffic, weather, and conflict. A short, factual check-in — time, place, who was present — is often the difference between a clear record and a reconstructed argument.
Keep the tone operational. “Arrived 5:58 PM, Library lot, child transferred” is stronger than commentary about motives. Courts and mediators weigh contemporaneous notes over later narratives.

If an exchange is missed entirely, log that too. Silence in the record is not neutral; it becomes a gap someone else will fill with speculation.
